@Brady2k10 So what. You can compare a million stories and a lot of them will have similarities in one way or another. It doesn’t mean the authors blatantly stole ideas from other works. 80 percent of ideas are recycled over and over again anyway. don’t waste your time being upset over it.

ABC basically cut out James Runcie’s voice and re-worded EVERYTHING that he said. I’ve already seen this interview and all they did was edit him out. Shame…

@Brady2k10 – Tolkien established (And some may say crystallized) the archetypes of characters that are followed by most, if not all modern fantasy fiction. Good luck finding any work from after 1960~1970 that do not use those.

hating a copycat …
hating a copycat isnt hard for me, dobby = gollum, dumbledore = gandalf, harry = frodo (just added the wizard instead of the hobbit, no big thing there, anyone could have done that) and so much more are blatantly taken from lord of the rings and im just appalled really that know one seems to notice this, shes taken Tolkeins work and twisted it slightly, its true i do like the harry potter films, and its a good twist on things, but shes still a dam thief. This video about the author ought to shut up those Fundementalist Bible Bangers who forbid their kids to read her works. She was the only one in her family to attend church and baptised at 11. When pressed to say if she believed in God, she said hesitantly yes. she struggles with some of the beliefs she admits. And don’t we all as christians if we are honest. She says her books mostly are about good fighting evil. Yeah, those bible thumpers speak before investigating.
