If ABORTION has become legal why couldn’t Drug consumption be legalized?

Abortion laws were repealed mainly because women were massively disregarding the anti-abortion laws. Anti-abortion laws were a failure. Illegal abortions were endagering women’s lives.
Drug prohibition laws are massively being disregarded. Drugs are available everywhere in many cases just a few steps away from police stations. Tainted drugs are unduly endangering the lives of many users, specially first time users. Gangs, maffia, terrorists all owe their riches to our anti drug legislation. Shouldn’t society give up and accept to legalize all drugs. Wouldn’t it be reasonable to ruin gangs, maffia and terrorists?
Absolutely.
Legalize it, regulate it like alcohol and tax it.
With the additional tax revenue and the elimination of the DEA our national debt would be gone in 10-15 years.
Plus, by eliminating the black market for the drugs you will reduce the price massively. That way the serious junkies won’t have to shoot a convenient store clerk for the cash.

Killing babies just because you can should never be a legal option. Certain drugs should be legalized, however.

I don’t think they could make up a joke about what does a drug addict and a woman having an abortion have in common? What does one thing have to do with the other? Make sense!!!!!

because they would make distributing it as inefficient as getting emergency supplies to Katrina victims.
not to mention the sin tax that would be placed on it.

Taking drugs is not illegal. It’s being in posession of drugs that is illegal.

The government doesn’t want to stop the flow of drugs. Drugs and alcohol keeps people distracted from real problems in our society, they make for better sheep.

i dont think those are two things that can really be compared. illegal abortions endanger womans lives but if it is done legally it can be done safely and by professionals. there is no way that drugs can be done in a controlled environment safely. a lot of drugs can kill you the first time that you do them…..why would you want to legalize that? and if you legalize drugs why would that stop gangs, maffia and terrorists from selling them? it wouldn’t they would just continue to do what they have been. alcohol was banned awhile ago….people still drank it….once it was legalized…..people continued to drink it.

illeagal drugs bring in more money to this country than if they were legal if drugs were legalized think of all the committees that their would be no more use for, think of all the people that are on drug task forces that would no longer have jobs, illegal drugs are big money to the political force of the country, also you would have the tobbacco and alochol industry against it also.

Ok I see your point, but that’s no comparison. Our world does not want to condone addictions, think about, there would be a lot more junkies. We don’t want that now do we? Not to mention the government may jack the prices up, which may lead to more crime, considering they need their fix, and they can’t afford it. It’s different than not be able to get a hold of your dealer, than having it there in front of your face and you know if you had money you could have it. I agree for the legalization of Pot, but no hard drugs.

Simply legalizing drug use is not going to ensure untainted drugs on the market. The sale of drugs would have to be monitored by the government to keep only "good" drugs available. BTW… abortions are legal only if performed by a medical doctor and must follow a rigid set of rules. A lot of drugs are available through medical doctors and can only be prescribed following a rigid set of rules. But I think you want cheap, make them yourself, drugs …

Actually, allow me to dispel your ignorance. Roe v. Wade, the decision which you claim "repealed" abortion laws, never mentions the fact that the female population was "ignoring" them. (And that’s stupid, by the way. People ignore the fact that bank robbery is illegal all the time, too, but it hasn’t "become legal" to rob a bank, has it?) Roe v. Wade addressed the fact that the government does not have the right to interfere in a woman’s domain over her own body, nor to compel her to refrain from obtaining a medical procedure. It was a privacy issue, not an abortion issue. It just so happened that the medical procedure in question was an abortion, but it could just as easily have been a heart transplant. The government has the same right to interfere in both cases – NONE.
By your logic, there should be no laws governing anything; after all, there is always someone who will ignore them.
