What steps would I take to open a small business where I cook for the elderly?

Posted by admin on Mar.10, 2010, under Steps to Riches (2) Comments

My husband and I live in a retirement rich area. We are young (27), professional individuals both with full time jobs but would like to start a business where we cook for the elderly/retired in the evenings. We can make food for the week, or food for the night, etc. We would have a variety of options. We have a lot of ideas but basically would love to hear advice from other business owners about how to get started, etc. Thanks so much!!! :)

Before you do anything else check with the local Health Department and see what their requirements are in regards to facilities, equipment, procedures and personnel.

Next, do some research and try to determine the size of the market for the type of service you are planning on providing and how much people would be willing to pay.

Another thing to consider is that most new businesses have a negative cash flow so you should both keep your daytime jobs until the business starts bringing in more than it pays out.

If it still looks like an attractive business opportunity go for it.

Hope this helps

What are the steps to becoming an actress?

Posted by admin on Mar.09, 2010, under Steps to Riches (2) Comments

I don’t mean to sound desperate, but I don’t know where to begin.
I feel like acting is the only thing I want to do.
I live in a small town, I’m not rich, and I feel soooo lost.
It hurts sometimes just thinking about not having my dreams come true.
I want it more than anything else.
I’m 16 years old.
Any help or direction would be amazing.
I think I would really make a great actress.
Thanks a ton!
:)
I choose best answer.

Here’s the cliffsnotes version of what you can do to do to get into acting:

1.EDUCATE YOURSELF FIRST!

2.GET TRAINING!
Definitely take classes in:

-Scene study

3. Get GREAT headshots

Here’s is a good place to start:

4. Build Your Resume and Reel Doing Student films and Indie Films. Also do plays to build your acting experience.

Sample Resume:

In LA, you can find jobs on your own through:
-ActorsAccess.com (Best for film/tv)
-LACasting.com (Best for commercials)
-Nowcasting.com (Best for student/indie films)

NY:
-ActorsAccess.com
-NYCastings.com
-NYCasting.com
-Backstage.com

Other Markets:
-ActorsAccess.com
-Backstage.com

5. Get an Agent

Top Agencies in LA:

To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won’t see you unless you’re SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading.

You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways:
-Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too.
-Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, IPOP, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at Actor Connection, Reel pros, Network Studios, etc.
-Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you’re interested in

DON’T
-Email them unless they tell you to. IT’S UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE!
-Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent’s ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print.

Riches to Rags Episode 003 – Thick Tamale Thanksgiving

Posted by admin on Mar.06, 2010, under Steps to Riches (4) Comments

Riches to Rags is all about making the most out of your resources in order to promote investments of assets (and in this case, your taste buds). The premise for this reality TV footage came about when John Ali grew depressed as he had a very tough time accepting that his first Thanksgiving in New York would not include Tamales. Due to this, John Ali went up and down the streets of Manhattan until he found Tehuitzingo Mexican Deli, the only location in Hell’s Kitchen that catered to his taste buds. For cultures with Latin roots, tamales are perhaps the most important celebratory food in existence. Special tamales are regularly prepared for celebrations and feast days ranging from Christmas, New Years and Day of the Dead to Weddings, Christenings and Birthdays. Like many classic foods, tamales can be Zen-like in their simplicity — a corn dough with or without a few flavorings and/or fillings wrapped up in a cute little package of corn husks or banana leaves (and occasionally other leaves as well) and steamed. But with those few basics, an infinite number of flavors and combinations are possible — from sweet to savory, mild to spicy, simple to complex and everything in between. This episode of Riches to Rags not only narrows down where to buy inexpensive Mexican cuisine in New York City, but also breaks down the steps involved in making delicious home cooked tamales.

What’s the best step to become rich like Bruce Wayne?

Posted by admin on Mar.03, 2010, under Steps to Riches (7) Comments

you know the fictional bruce wayne. Maybe not that rich, but to be able to have nice cars and a great life. I’m 20 years old and i’m sure i can achieve that if i have good goals. If you were to plan your education or whatever move. how would you go about it to be rich? if you weren’t afraid of hardwork.. etc etc.

to be Bruce Wayne, you are going to have to go through personal development because mindset does wonders especially when you are struggling…however, if you have the mindset of a winner, than no failure or mistake can bog you down…

and one thing, you will NEVER get rich working for some one else…and if you don’t plan to do this, than I would say to seriously consider becoming an entrepreneur…read books, self-educate…

04 Porsche Turbo – Test driven by Rob Riches

Posted by admin on Feb.26, 2010, under Steps to Riches (6) Comments

Rob Riches is back in the driving seat as he gets behind the wheel of one of the most iconic cars in history – the Porsche 911, and where better than to test drive a car that is often voted by magazines and online polls as being on of the best cars to drive, than around the sunny streets of LA.

With a love of cars and motor sport almost as much as health and fitness, it’s no surprise that when he’s not working out in the gym, being photographed for top fitness magazines, or interviewing some of the top Fitness Models in the world for LA Muscle TV, he can usually be found behind the wheel of something fast and powerful. Previously reporting on one of America’s much loved muscle car – The Ford Mustang, this time he steps into something a little more modern, yet with just as much history to it’s racing name pedigree.

Driving a Porsche 911 (Type 996) Turbo – the car that changed it all for Porsche when they switched from air-cooled to water-cooled engines, this is also the first time in over a decade that Porsche has offered a Turbo Cabriolet.

Do you think that the RICH step on your back to make their WEALTH?

Posted by admin on Feb.25, 2010, under Steps to Riches (7) Comments

Because they exploit you when you work in their businesses, not paying what you deserve to be paid?

yes, the rich make their money by charging the customer an inflated price for your work and labour. They could charge less or pay us more and it would be more honest.

Why do people use these women and men to promote products?

Posted by admin on Feb.22, 2010, under Steps to Riches (4) Comments

I don’t get why some commercials involve some beautiful women who happen to sit on a "Leons couch" and somehow think people will want to buy those couches or a musclebound man wears a certain brand of suits and they expect you to want to buy it. I don’t get it! Like for example there is this commercial about a beer. It shows some rich guy stepping out of a limo and then 8 beautiful women coming out the other doors and they turn into beers and somehow it makes you want to buy them???

Well, it doesn’t work for me, either. But advertisers and marketers have found that, in general, that approach works very well. In brief, people see the commercials and tend to believe that if they use the advertised product, they’ll begin to look like, or have the same success as, the person featured in the ad.

Even if it’s a comical ad, or unrealistic, viewers still tend to identify with the protagonist.

And that’s the reason. Because it works. And that’s why it works.
